Start with the
right setup.

GymLock needs two permissions to do its job. Both are requested inside the app, and you can change them at any time.

Blocking apps

Open App Lock Setup on the home screen and choose the apps you want paused. GymLock asks for Screen Time access the first time—this is Apple's system for blocking apps, and it stays on your device.

Gym detection

Save your gym in Settings → My Gym. GymLock needs Always location access and notifications turned on so it can nudge you when you arrive, even with the app closed.

Common
questions.

Most issues can be fixed in a minute. Open a question below for the exact steps.

My apps aren't being blocked

Blocking only runs while a workout session is active—start a session and the apps you picked will be paused until you finish. If they still open normally:

  1. Check you've selected apps in App Lock Setup. An empty list blocks nothing.
  2. Open iPhone Settings → Screen Time and make sure it's turned on.
  3. In iPhone Settings → GymLock, confirm Screen Time access is allowed.

Some apps built into iOS can't be blocked—that's an Apple restriction, not a bug.

I don't get a notification at my gym

This is almost always one of three things:

  1. Location must be set to Always, not "While Using the App"—GymLock can't detect anything from your pocket without it. Check iPhone Settings → GymLock → Location, and turn on Precise Location.
  2. Notifications must be on, both in iPhone Settings and in GymLock's own Settings screen.
  3. You'll only be alerted once per visit. Leave the area and come back to trigger it again.

Detection isn't instant—iPhone checks your location in the background to save battery, so the alert can land a minute or two after you walk in.

I paid but Premium isn't showing

Open the paywall in GymLock and tap Restore. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple Account you bought the subscription with—purchases are tied to your Apple Account, not your GymLock account.

Still nothing? Email us at support@gymlock.co and we'll sort it out.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, so cancelling happens in iOS rather than in GymLock:

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
  3. Select GymLock, then Cancel Subscription.

You keep Premium until the end of the period you've already paid for. Cancelling at least 24 hours before it ends stops the next renewal.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes your workouts, records and profile from our servers permanently, and it can't be undone.

Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription—do that separately in iPhone Settings.

Can GymLock see which apps I use?

No. You pick the apps in Apple's own picker, and Apple hands GymLock nothing but opaque tokens—never readable app names, app lists, or any record of how you use them. Those tokens are saved with your account so your choices follow you to a new phone, but we can't decode them, and they're only ever used to apply your blocks during a session.

The gym you save—the pin and radius you choose—stays on your device and is used only to trigger your arrival reminder. We don't collect a history of where you go. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Can I use GymLock on more than one device?

Yes. Sign in with the same GymLock account and your workouts, plan and records sync across your devices. Your subscription follows your Apple Account, so tap Restore on the new device to unlock Premium.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and request a refund for GymLock.

If something in the app went wrong, tell us as well—we'd rather fix it.

Still stuck?

Include your iPhone model, iOS version, and what you expected to happen. Screenshots help us more than anything else.
